Farmers in Uttar Pradesh are set to receive a significant boost as the Yogi government rolls out a subsidy scheme on agricultural equipment. The initiative, part of a broader push to uplift the agricultural sector, aims to provide financial relief to farmers by offering subsidies on a range of agricultural tools and machinery. The application process has already begun, and interested farmers can apply until October 23. 

Subsidy Scheme Details: How It Works? 

Under the scheme, farmers can book agricultural equipment with a subsidy ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹1 lakh by paying a booking fee of ₹2,500. For equipment with a subsidy exceeding ₹1 lakh, the booking amount will be ₹5,000. This scheme covers various agricultural tools and equipment, including agricultural protection devices, custom hiring centres, high-tech hubs for equipment rental, threshing floors, and small warehouses. 

Efforts to Modernize Agriculture in Uttar Pradesh 

The initiative is part of the Yogi government’s ongoing efforts to modernize farming practices and support the livelihoods of farmers. The scheme is intended to make agricultural mechanization more accessible and affordable for small and marginal farmers, which in turn will help improve productivity and reduce the labour intensity of farming. 

The scheme also promotes custom hiring centres and high-tech hubs, which will allow farmers to rent equipment at affordable prices. This is especially beneficial for farmers who may not have the financial means to purchase costly machinery outright but can still gain access to modern tools. 

What is the Application Process? 

Farmers can apply for the subsidy online by visiting the agriculture department’s official website at www.agriculture.up.gov.in. To apply, farmers must click on the link for booking equipment with subsidies. Applications are only accepted through the applicant’s or their family’s mobile number, ensuring transparency in the process. 

Once the booking is made, applicants are required to upload the bill for the equipment within 10 days of booking. Failure to upload the bill within the stipulated time will result in the cancellation of the booking. The entire process is monitored via an OTP verification system, ensuring that only genuine applicants can proceed. 

Refunds for Unselected Applicants 

Farmers who do not meet the target or are not selected in the e-lottery system will have their booking amount refunded. This ensures that no financial burden falls on the farmers if they are not chosen to receive the subsidy. 

For those who successfully book their equipment, they will have 30 days to purchase the equipment and upload all necessary documentation, including purchase receipts and photos of the equipment. For those involved in setting up Custom Hiring Centres or Hi-Tech Hubs, the timeline for completing the purchase is extended to 45 days. 

E-Lottery Selection Process 

In case the number of applications exceeds the available target, an e-lottery system will be used to select beneficiaries. The e-lottery will be conducted in front of a district-level executive committee, chaired by the District Magistrate (DM), ensuring transparency and fairness in the selection process. 

Additionally, a waiting list of up to 50 percent of the target will be prepared, giving more farmers a chance to benefit from the scheme. The details of the e-lottery, including the date, time, and venue, will be communicated to applicants by the concerned District Deputy Agriculture Director.

Farmers who are selected can purchase the machinery from registered manufacturers listed on the government’s upyantratracking.in portal. This ensures that the equipment is of the prescribed standard, providing farmers with high-quality tools that can help improve their farming practices.
