Hemant Sikka Named MD & CEO of Mahindra Logistics in Leadership Overhaul
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M) has announced a major rejig in its leadership team with key changes at the divisional level to propel growth and innovation.

As part of the changes, several senior executives will assume new roles:
Hemant Sikka, current president of the Farm Equipment Sector (FES), was appointed as managing director & CEO of Mahindra Logistics (MLL). This change will take effect on May 4, 2025. President of the Farm Equipment Business (FEB)—currently Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division. Nakra has a tremendous turnaround record in the automotive division. He will now lead the brand’s FEB, the largest and most profitable sector of the company. R. Velusamy—current president of Automotive Technology and Product Development—was elevated to president of the Automotive Business (AB).
Mahindra Announces Key Leadership Changes Across Core Divisions
The changes follow Tata Group’s decision to bring all SUV and light commercial vehicle operations under Velusamy to build more agility and collaboration in the business. Ram Swaminathan, the incumbent CEO of Mahindra Logistics, resigned to seek other professional opportunities. The exodus created room for Hemant Sikka’s new position.
On the rationale behind these changes, Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & Managing Director, M&M, said, “In our journey of transformation, we believe that for business units to grow and create value, strong leadership is imperative. These new appointments would add proven leaders to critical businesses, he said.
The Effects of the Modifications
Due to the changes, Nakra, who joined M&M in 1995, is an experienced hand at transforming the automotive division, which had one of the most successful product launches by improving its manufacturing capabilities. The FEB, which Nakra will now head, is among the largest and most profitable sectors of Mahindra, with a return on capital employed (ROCE) of over 60%. The new head of the Automotive Business will be R. Velusamy, who has been with M&M since 1996. Velusamy has been a prominent figure in developing internal combustion engines and Mahindra’s foray into electric vehicles.
The newly restructured automotive business will encompass the SUV and light commercial vehicle operations under his leadership to enhance agility and encourage further collaboration. Mahindra & Mahindra’s first board leadership change in its more than seventeen-decade-long history reflects the company’s commitment to put in place strong, experienced leadership at its core businesses to drive profitability and shareholder value.
