Under this program, each coconut plant costs ₹85, and farmers will receive a 75% subsidy, reducing their cost to just ₹21.25 per plant. This substantial financial aid will allow farmers to purchase more plants and enhance this farming.
Coconut Farming Now More Profitable!
1. Procurement of Plants: Coconut saplings will be sourced from the Coconut Development Board and distributed to farmers by the Assistant Director of Horticulture.
2. Advance Payment: Farmers must deposit ₹21.25 per plant with the Assistant Director before receiving the plants.
3. Number of Plants: Farmers can purchase a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 712 plants (178 plants per hectare) at subsidized rates.

Thsi farming is not only profitable but also environmentally beneficial. These trees are known for their ability to withstand harsh climatic conditions and require less water compared to other crops. This makes them an ideal choice for regions prone to drought. Additionally, coconut palms help in soil conservation and prevent erosion, contributing to sustainable agricultural practices. The by-products of coconuts, such as husks and shells, can be used for various purposes like making ropes, mats, and handicrafts, further increasing the economic benefits for farmers. The scheme’s success could potentially transform Bihar into a leading coconut-producing state in India.
