The regulator has given general insurance companies authorized to use and file retail goods for agricultural and related operations.

Companies may release a product on the market before requesting approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai). Prior to today, companies had to wait for Irdai’s permission before launching items. Sometimes it may take three months for a product to be approved.

Irdai said in a statement on Thursday that the move “will make it easier for insurance companies to quickly develop and introduce innovative solutions for these segments and increase the options accessible to consumers.”

“One of the main sources of income in India is agriculture and related activities. Additionally, the negative effects of natural disasters on society’s most vulnerable groups are significant, underscoring the necessity of creating and providing appropriate insurance policies for their protection.

With the exception of private savings, individual pensions, and annuity products, Irdai has expanded the “use & file” approach to most life insurance products.

The sector has grown, so it does not make sense to obtain the regulator’s prior clearance before launching every product, which is the justification behind the introduction of the “use & file” approach for the majority of items.
