Heat waves and heat waves are likely in many states: In Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, including Delhi NCR, the heat has broken many previous records. People say that there has never been such a severe heat during Navratri. 

According to private weather agency Skymet, heat wave conditions are likely at many places with isolated heat wave conditions at few places over West Rajasthan and East Rajasthan, South Haryana and Delhi.

Similarly, heat wave conditions may occur at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch, parts of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar.

Chance of rain in the states during the next 24 hours: According to Skymet Weather, one or two heavy spells of rain with light to moderate rain may occur at isolated places over Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, parts of Kerala and South Coast of Karnataka during the next 24 hours. 

Light to moderate rain is possible over Nagaland, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Tamil Nadu. Isolated light rain may occur over remaining parts of Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

The mercury reached 45 degrees for the first time in the season. This time the mercury has crossed 45 degrees in the first fortnight of April itself. Kandla in Gujarat is the first city where the mercury has crossed 45 degrees.

According to Skymet Kandla, one of the major ports of India, located on the Gulf of Kutch, is the first city to cross the 45 degree Celsius mark in the pre-monsoon season.

This mercury level is 10 degrees Celsius above average and is in extreme heat wave conditions.

For the last few days, the temperature has been increasing rapidly over Kutch, North Gujarat and West Rajasthan. The western parts of Rajasthan are also in the grip of extreme heat with temperatures exceeding 44 degrees Celsius.

The weather in Rajasthan and Gujarat has been completely dry during this season so far.

Hot winds are blowing in the border parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat. The scorching heat from the dry areas of Pakistan is reaching the border states.

Such is the weather system across the country: There is a circulation over Southeast Madhya Pradesh and the region.

A trough is extending from a cyclonic circulation over Southeast Madhya Pradesh to Tamil Nadu via Vidarbha, Marathwada and Interior Karnataka.

A cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Bay of Bengal and is extending up to mid-troposphere level. Another Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Sri Lanka and adjoining areas.

Weather activity across the country during the last 24 hours: According to Skymet Weather, during the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain with light to moderate rain occurred over Sikkim and light to moderate rain at isolated places over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and South Tamil Nadu.

Light rain occurred at isolated places over Kerala, North Coast of Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka and one or two parts of Goa, Marathwada, Vidarbha and Odisha.

Heat wave conditions were observed at most places with isolated heat wave conditions at one or two places over West Rajasthan.

Heat wave conditions accompanied by severe heat waves occurred in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Delhi.

Heat wave conditions prevailed over Jammu division, parts of Haryana, East Rajasthan and isolated parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
