Union Minister Highlights Natural Farming Initiatives at Regional Consultation Program
The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, addressed the “Regional Consultation Program on the Science of Natural Farming”, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting chemical-free farming. Chouhan highlighted the Prime Minister’s vision of “saving Mother Earth from chemicals” and urged farmers to adopt natural farming practices to ensure the health of future generations.

Chouhan called upon the country’s farmers to dedicate a portion of their land to this farming for three years, during which they will receive government subsidies. He acknowledged that the yield might be lower during the initial two years but assured that the government would provide financial support. Additionally, he mentioned that farmers could expect 1.5 times higher prices for grains, fruits, and vegetables produced through natural farming.
The Union Minister announced the establishment of laboratories in agricultural universities across the country to facilitate the study and research of natural farming. These efforts aim to promote this farming and enhance food reserves. He also stated that a national-level awareness campaign would be launched, involving one crore farmers to spread the benefits of this farming nationwide.
On the same occasion, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat highlighted the distinction between natural farming and organic farming, stressing the importance of understanding this difference. He pointed out that this farming requires less water and is highly beneficial for farmers, praising the government’s recognition of its importance.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also spoke at the event, detailing efforts to promote this farming products in the state. He announced that all six agricultural universities in Uttar Pradesh have been instructed to improve their certification laboratories. CM Yogi informed the audience about the establishment of four agricultural universities, 89 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and two central agricultural universities in Uttar Pradesh, underscoring the state’s commitment to advancing agricultural practices.
