Hemant Sikka, President of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Sector, offered the following commentary on the performance: “In August 2024, we sold 20,518 tractors in the domestic market, reflecting a 1% decrease compared to the previous year.” The Southwest monsoon delivered ample rainfall to the central, western, and southern regions, though some areas like Bihar and Punjab experienced insufficient rainfall. Kharif sowing has been favorable, enhancing farmer confidence.Improved morale has also been aided by better crop prices and MSP for important Kharif crops. With budgetary support and favorable trade conditions, we anticipate a strong festive season for the tractor industry. In the export market, we achieved 1,399 tractor sales, marking a 36% increase from the previous year.”
