Hemant Sikka, President of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Sector, shared his thoughts on the performance, saying, “We recorded sales of 43,201 tractors in the domestic market in September, reflecting a 3% increase compared to last year.” The monsoon rainfall has risen by 7.5% over the Long Period Average (LPA), positively impacting Kharif sowing for most crops, except cotton. Reservoir levels have significantly improved and are currently 13% higher than the LPA, which bodes well for a strong Rabi crop. Given the favorable Kharif harvest and the expected robust Rabi yield, rural sentiment remains positive. With advantageous terms of trade for farmers and the approach of upcoming festivals, we anticipate strong demand for tractors in the near future. Additionally, we exported 1,055 tractors during this period.”
