CNH India and SAARC Country Manager and Managing Director Narinder Mittal told PTI that the country’s agriculture sector has a lot of promise. With four more years to go, the company wants to increase its market share to 8%.

Official Announcement

“We plan to invest about $40-50 million in the current calendar year in the agriculture segment, including the program investment,” stated Narinder Mittal, Managing Director of CNH India and SAARC. Of which, $25–30 million will be allocated just to the tractor industry.

As part of the program investment, Mittal claims that the firm is creating a specific tractor model with over 45 horsepower and a new engine for better fuel economy.

In reference to a recent introduction, Mittal said that a bigger tractor with 105 horsepower will be available in May of this year. This tractor is used for bailing and heavy application.

he continued, “By the end of 2025, the new model is probably going to be released’.

“To meet the growing demand for baler and ridge machines in the country, the company is currently importing bigger tractors of more than 100 HP,” Mittal said.

Compared to 450 the previous year, CNH India sold over 840 small square balers in 2023. Furthermore, according to an official, the business sold 50 huge round balers in 2023.

Balers compact agricultural refuse into manageable, transportable balers. Small square balers, which cost around ₹11–12 lakh per unit, may be operated with tractors that are currently in use, unlike big/round balers, which require tractors with horsepower more than 100.

The Pune-based firm makes tiny balers, but by the middle of the year, it intends to localize some of the parts that it imports. The firm imports giant balers.

In the field of agriculture, CNH India runs two plants: one in Pune, Maharashtra, that produces harvesters, and the other in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, which produces 60,000 tons of tractors annually.

CNH has three legal companies across the country, each specialized in financial services, construction vehicles, and agricultural and farm machines. CNH employs over 3,400 people.

Approximately 71% of the overall income is generated by the tractor business. The overall income of CNH India was projected to reach $1 billion by 2023.

“To cater to the increasing need for baler and ridge machines in the nation, the company is presently importing larger tractors with over 100 horsepower,” he mentioned.

He mentioned that the company markets balers in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and certain regions of Madhya Pradesh. “We anticipate reaching 1,000 balers this year,” he added.
