Higher MSP for Kharif Crops brings a Breeze of Joy in the Agriculture Sector
Modi Government’s decision will bestow farmers with Rs. 2 lakh crores as Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Kharif Crops which is a massive Rs 35,000 crores more than the previous season.

Offering a jaw dropping give away to agriculture sector, the central government has announced an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for kharif crops, covering a total of 14 different crops. This decision has created a breeze joy across the agriculture industry and is expected to bring significant benefits to farmers nationwide.
On Wednesday, June 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third-term government held its second cabinet meeting, where several key decisions were made. Among these was a crucial decision aimed at supporting farmers. The government approved an increase in MSP for kharif crops, marking a substantial boost for the agricultural community. This includes crops such as cotton, moong dal, urad dal, peanuts, and maize. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced this decision.
Major increase in MSP for 14 Kharif Crops:
The rise in MSP will increase the government’s expenditure by around Rs 2 lakh crore. Along with this, the Cabinet has approved the Deep Draft Greenfield Port at Dahanu Taluka (Palghar) in Maharashtra. Ashwini Vaishnav also informed that the cabinet has approved the Wadwan port worth Rs 76 thousand 220 crores.In the recent most meeting of the Union Cabinet, the new MSP of rice has been fixed at Rs. 2,300 which is Rs. 117 higher than the previous MSP. The new MSP for cotton will be Rs. 7,121. The new MSP for its second variant will be Rs. 7,521, which is Rs. 501 more than earlier, informed Shri. Ashwini Vaishnav.
Detailed MSP Increases for Crops:
Rice: Rs 2,300 per quintal (up by Rs 117)
Tur Dal: Rs 7,550 per quintal (up by Rs 550)
Urad Pulses: Rs 7,400 per quintal (up by Rs 450)
Moong Pulses: Rs 8,682 per quintal (up by Rs 124)
Groundnut: Rs 6,783 per quintal (up by Rs 406)
Cotton: Rs 7,121 per quintal (up by Rs 501)
Jowar: Rs 3,371 per quintal (up by Rs 191)
Millets: Rs 2,625 per quintal (up by Rs 125)
Maize: Rs 2,225 per quintal (up by Rs 135)
Ragi: Rs 4,290 per quintal
Sesame: Rs 8,717 per quintal
Sunflower: Rs 7,230 per quintal
