According to the information given in the Lok Sabha on Thursday by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Gen (Dr) V K Singh, the Krishi Udan program offers air transportation and logistical support for perishable agricultural produce Krishi Udan 2.0 has been implemented at 58 airports.

The Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0, which improved the previous provisions and was primarily designed to carry perishable food items from mountainous regions, North-Eastern States, and tribal communities, was unveiled on October 27, 2021.

For Indian freighters and P2C (Passenger-to-Cargo) aircraft, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) offers a full waiver of landing, parking, terminal navigational landing charges (TNLC), and route navigation facility charges (RNFC) in and around 25 airports with a focus on the North Eastern, Hilly, and Tribal regions.

Eight Ministries and Departments, including the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairy, the Ministry of Fisheries, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, and the Ministry of Development of the North-Eastern Region (DoNER), would leverage their current programs to strengthen the Krishi Udan Scheme.

The Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 currently includes the Prayagraj Airport. The Krishi Udan Scheme in the nation provides coverage for all perishable goods.
