Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that modern agricultural education in the country should be farmer-builder, whose syllabus should be prepared according to the present conditions.

Tomar said this as the chief guest at the annual conference of Vice Chancellors of State Agricultural Universities and Directors of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (RECAR) institutions across the country in Delhi.

Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala, Union Ministers of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Kailash Choudhary and Shobha Karandlaje and Director General of ICAR and DARE Secretary Dotrilochan Mohapatra were specially present in the function.

He said that we are almost equal or in good position in our competition in the agriculture sector with the developing countries but now we have to make the agriculture sector and along with it the country be self-reliant and to establish itself in the best position, we have to compete with the developed countries. 

Tomar said that now India is not in a position to deserve someone’s mercy, but now we are standing in a position to compete strongly with developed countries.

Tomar said that chemical fertilizers have side effects on agricultural land as well as on the human body.

Now the talk of organic as well as natural farming is going on in full swing. Taking an initiative in this regard, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a mission to promote natural farming. 

Prime Minister Modi wants our farmers to prosper and agriculture and the country to become self-reliant, for this work is being done on many platforms simultaneously.

Tomar said in the context of natural farming that the cycle of creation keeps on rotating continuously.

All the Vice Chancellors, directors and scientists should work wholeheartedly for the promotion of natural farming. 

He urged the retired officers and employees of ICAR to join them for the progress of the agriculture sector and also suggested convening their conference. 

Also, openly appreciated the unprecedented contribution of ICAR in the progress of the agriculture sector in the country.

Union Minister Rupala suggested that many changes in agriculture should be included in the syllabus and said that ICAR should also work in relation to developing exportable aquaculture seeds, while inculcating the interest of the students to work in the field. 

Efforts should be made for this. Rupala said that bringing farmers and students together will bring a lot of change. He said that ICAR should work to make the period of Amrit Mahotsav of the country’s independence memorable.

Expressing happiness, Minister of State Chaudhary said that the Agricultural Universities and ICAR Institutes have done a great job even during the Corona crisis.

He emphasized on increasing the income of farmers by focusing on the pulses-oilseeds mission, for which the Prime Minister has given guidance.

Awards were presented in various categories in the program, as well as various publications and technologies were released by the guests. All senior officers and scientists were present on this occasion.
