There is good news by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for the students who are interested in taking certification courses on relevant streams like agriculture, gender and sustainable development through distance and open learning methods. IGNO is an education organization that provides certification courses through open- distance learning methods.
Recently, IGNOU has launched some more certifications programmes in agriculture, gender and sustainable development for six months and those students who possess a Bachelor Degree can apply for the programme. Till March 15 students can apply for the course through online mode.
IGNOU focussed on women’s participation in the agriculture sector must be focused in providing a significant role in every stream of education.
IGNOU mentioned that, “Women and men are affected differently by economic change and development, and thus an active public policy is needed to intervene to close gender gaps. In this context, agriculture needs to look towards sustainability in its planning and policy process and the women’s contribution to sustainable agricultural development.”
These programs are introduced with an aim to create awareness about gender typology and different roles in the sector of sustainable agriculture, knowledge on agriculture, and to build gender research in agriculture, said Dr. G Uma.
