Escorts Kubota Limited (EKL) to increase tractor prices (except for Kubota-branded tractors) with effort on May 1, 2025. The company announced this in a regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) on April 25.
The quantum of price increase is not the same across models and variants, the company’s press release, signed by Arvind Kumar, company secretary, reads. The notification did not indicate the rate or amount of the price hike or the reasons behind the decision.
This price increase, however, is limited to the company’s non-Kubota-branded tractors, indicating a strategic differential in how the company is positioning its products. EKL, then known as Escorts Limited, has been a pioneer in the Indian farm mechanisation industry for 85 years.
They are one of India’s leading engineering companies, with a diversified portfolio of products ranging from wagons, electrical multiple units, and coach manufacturing to critical technology services. EKL already serves more than 5 million customers and sees itself as a driver of worldwide food security and infrastructure construction.
The company, based in the industrial town of Faridabad, carries the corporate identification number L74899HR1944PLC039088 and is registered at 15/5, Mathura Road, Faridabad. The company shares are traded on the BSE with the code 500495 and on the NSE with the code ESCORTS.
The Indian agricultural machinery industry has been under several cost pressures in the past few years, such as increasing input costs and changes in regulations. And many suppliers have been struggling to maintain market pricing on an operation that has a negative profit.
