JK Tyre & Industries, a leading entity in the Indian tyre industry, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first tyre manufacturer in the nation to earn the esteemed The Chennai facility of JK Tyre has been accredited with the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus.This certification highlights the company’s dedication to embedding sustainability into its manufacturing operations and advancing an eco-friendly future.
To achieve ISCC Plus certification, a company must meet several criteria, such as ensuring traceability of raw materials, complying with environmental regulations, preserving ecosystems, upholding labor and human rights, and fostering sustainable economic development. The extensive final audit for this certification was carried out by the Indian branch of the certification body located in Kolkata.

JK Tyre is striving to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and aims to reduce its carbon intensity by 50% by 2030. The company’s commitment to reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions has been validated by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
In 2021, the JK Tyre Chennai plant obtained zero-liquid discharge certification, and it received the title of “National Energy Leader” during the 21st National Award for Excellence in Energy Management in 2020. In 2017, it was acknowledged by the International Research Institute for Manufacturing (IRIM) for its sustainable practices and green manufacturing techniques. Moreover, the facility has consistently received the “Excellent Energy Efficient Unit” award from CII for six consecutive years, beginning in 2015.
ISCC Plus, an International Sustainability & Carbon Certification, is a voluntary program designed for bio-based and circular (recycled) raw materials. The certification is awarded after a thorough verification process to ensure adherence to ISCC standards, which include tracing certified materials across the supply chain from their source to the final product.
