Pratab Chandra Sarangi, Minister of State for Fisheries replied to the Lok Sabha in his written statement that, \u201cA ‘National Fisheries Policy 2020’ has been formulated and placed in the public domain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the next ten years, the draft policy provides strategies and vision towards overall and sustainable development of the fisheries sector and suggestions are also invited from stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From 14 states and Union territories including Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa and Odisha the government has already received comments on the draft policy<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The draft policy has been translated into 11 vernacular languages and states will circulate it to stakeholders, including fishermen associations in order to obtain their comments, said by the Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the draft policy the guidelines of strategies and principles of the development of the fisheries sector of the country has been formulated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister also said that \u201c the government is implementing a flagship scheme “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)” to bring about the Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible development of the fisheries sector in India with an investment of Rs 20,050 crore for a period of five years, in effect from the financial year 2020-21.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
