One of the world’s largest tractor manufacturers and a subsidiary of TAFE \u2013 Massey Ferguson Tractors in India, Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE),completed the Season 2 of its premier Massey DYNASTAR Contest. It was an exercise to scout and acknowledge agri-innovation ideas that are unique, scalable, and has got societal scale in undertow while riding on Massey Ferguson DYNATRACK 241. The campaign received a resounding response with more than 16,000 entries from across 26 states and five Union Territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of this pool, 12 finalists regionally representing the regions in the entire country were shortlisted to Grand Finale that was evaluated on parameters around innovation, feasibility, scalability, income generation potential and social impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avinash Desai from Belgaum in Karnataka, an IT professional who has become a farmer, became the national winner for his mobile slurry dewatering machine concept. He got a brand new Massey Ferguson 254 DYNASMART 2WD tractor costing about \u20b98.2 lakh on-road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second place was bagged by Prateek Agarwal from Hojai, Assam, for his solar-powered sustainable energy hub and third prize went to Amrit Jot Singh from Patiala, Punjab for tractor powered water purifying unit. Both received 8gm gold coins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jury’s Special Award carrying a 50gm silver coin was given to Dr. Jayakumar Karuppusamy, a retired IAS officer from Assam for his Multipurpose farm machine design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Institutional Category, Agricultural Engineering College & Research Institute (Tamil Nadu Agricultural University), Kumulur secured first position for an 8-row tractor-mounted transplanter; while Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Erode, claimed the second prize with an automated multi-vegetable transplanter. Designed for the Massey Ferguson DYNATRACK 241, both models made it through to testing phase and the most successful students were provided with internship opportunities at TAFE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prizes awarded were a tractor, gold and silver coins, innovation hampers amongst thousands of log heads and development grants to help them. The competition underlines the commitment of TAFE to encourage rural India, facilitate farmer-pushed R&D and allow on-ground agricultural innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a successful Season 2, TAFE has stated that the Massey DYNASTAR Contest debuts again in Season 3 with a wider outreach to provide larger avenues for India’s agri-entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
