7 New Schemes Announced<\/strong> – Krishi Sapta Sutri<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Cabinet Approves Rs 14,000 Crore for \u201cKrishi Sapta Sutri\u201d programme<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The central government has given a significant gift to farmers by announcing seven major initiatives. The government plans to spend Rs 13,966 crore on these decisions, and the Cabinet has also approved the Digital Agriculture Mission, allocating Rs 2,817 crore for it. These schemes aim to enhance farmers’ income and living standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Krishi Sapta Sutri” to Benefit Farmers Across the Nation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Union Cabinet has approved an expenditure of approximately Rs 14,000 crore for seven key agricultural programs, including the Digital Agriculture Mission and Crop Science Schemes. This decision was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as announced by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seven Major “Sapta Sutri” Decisions for Farmers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the Cabinet has approved Rs 2,817 crore for the Digital Agriculture Mission and Rs 3,979 crore for Crop Science schemes. Additionally, Rs 1,702 crore has been approved for Sustainable Livestock Health and Rs 2,291 crore for strengthening Agricultural Education and Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Horticulture Schemes Also Approved<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Cabinet has also approved an Rs 860 crore scheme for the sustainable development of the horticulture sector, according to Minister Vaishnaw. He further mentioned that Rs 1,202 crore has been allocated for Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Rs 1,115 crore for strengthening Natural Resource Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    State Government\u2019s “Sapta Sutri”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The United Nations has declared 2023 as the “International Year of Millets,” and the state government has also announced its “Saptasutri” for this, planning to implement it over the next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Current Status of Millets in the State Millets like Bajra, Jowar, and Ragi have been traditionally grown on large areas in the state, while other millets like Varai, Rala, Sava, and Kodra have been grown in smaller quantities. Jowar, which is grown in both Kharif and Rabi seasons, was cultivated on 3.61 lakh hectares in 2016-17, but the area reduced to 1.649 lakh hectares in 2021-22. However, the average productivity increased from 702 kg per hectare to 1,038 kg per hectare. Bajra was grown on 8.37 lakh hectares in 2016-17, which decreased to 5 lakh hectares in 2021-22. Ragi cultivation also decreased from 93,000 hectares in 2016-17 to 73,000 hectares in 2021-22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What Does the State\u2019s “Saptasutri” Include?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The state’s Agriculture Department plans to celebrate the International Year of Millets by increasing millet production and productivity, raising awareness of their nutritional and health benefits, promoting millet value addition, boosting processing industries, popularizing millet-based recipes, fostering a business perspective, increasing exports, and strengthening the millet movement through strategic government decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
