Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) Shimla has developed a new variety of potato ‘Kufri Kiran’. The special thing is that Kufri Kiran is capable of withstanding high temperatures as well as it can prove to be very useful for areas with high temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In fact, for the formation of potato tubers, it is necessary to have a night temperature of 8 to 20 degree Celsius, while this species is capable of preparing tubers in even higher temperatures. This species is going to produce other varieties even in high temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Potato cannot be grown in many areas due to excessive heat, but now farmers can plant this new variety in hot areas, for which CPRI has approved it. Now Kufri Kiran is ready for use by farmers. According to scientists, this variety of potatoes gets ready in 100 to 120 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kufri Kiran, a new fledgling potato variety developed by scientists, has a production capacity of 25 tonnes per hectare. Which gets ready in 100 days to 120 days after sowing. Being tolerant to hot temperatures, sowing of this variety can be done easily even in the Kharif season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Potatoes are often removed before seeing the increase in temperature because the shape of the potato is affected due to high heat. Apart from this, farmers have to face heavy losses due to the late growing of potatoes and heat. But now the farmers will not have to bear the loss due to the sowing of new Kufri Kiran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
